Dr. Greg Li is a distinguished leader in global healthcare investment and innovation, with a focus on advancing orthopaedics, sports medicine, rehabilitation, biotechnology, AI-driven healthcare, and mental health. His career spans over two decades, and he is recognised for forging transformative cross-border partnerships between China, the United States, and Australia. Dr. Li combines his strategic investment expertise with a commitment to accelerating the development and implementation of medical technologies that significantly enhance patient care and quality of life on a global scale.
Throughout his career, Dr. Li has pioneered innovative collaborations that reshape healthcare delivery. As a senior executive at Johnson & Johnson Medical, he was instrumental in creating key partnerships with prominent institutions such as Massachusetts General Hospital, and Peking University Hospitals in China. These partnerships enhanced clinical innovation and patient care across both regions. In his current role as a partner at a global private equity firm, Dr. Li leads investments in cutting-edge medical technologies, successfully mobilizing over $1 billion to scale startups and established enterprises across three continents.
Dr. Li earned his Ph.D. in Surgery from Peking University Health Science Center and holds a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences and Management from Harvard University. His academic journey and entrepreneurial spirit intersected early in his career when he co-founded a Telehealth platform during his doctoral studies—a venture that was later integrated into a National Healthcare Digitalization Initiative in Beijing.
Known as a “surgeon of MedTech innovation,” Dr. Li serves not only as an investor but also as an educator and mentor. He has lectured at Tsinghua University and has been a longstanding mentor at the Harvard Innovation Labs, where he guides the next generation of MedTech entrepreneurs. His advisory roles extend to key government bodies, including the China National Innovation Center for Medical Devices, where he has contributed to shaping policies that streamline regulatory pathways for AI-driven diagnostics and robotic surgery systems.
Dr. Li’s portfolio includes a number of landmark projects, such as the first International Rehabilitation Center in Beijing, developed with investment from CICC, and the launch of an AI-powered mental health platform that has been adopted by thousands of healthcare professionals across Asia. He has also played a pivotal role in the growth of three biotechnology unicorns, collectively valued at over $5 billion.
As Co-Chair of Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs (China), Dr. Li fosters innovation and collaboration between the East and West.
